✈Lufthansa, Frankfurt-Sarajevo statistics

Lufthansa launched Frankfurt-Sarajevo flights on May 03, 2021. From May 2021. to the end of the year Lufthansa operated a total of 372 flights, transporting 31.932 passengers (departing 16.315 passengers, arriving 15.617 passengers). During the year 2021. the average cabin load factor was 68%, averaging 86 passengers per flight. Flights operated by Airbus 319 aircraft, offering 126 seats. 

Data for the first eleven months of the year 2022 shows improvement in all areas. The number of passengers carried grew to 63.438 passengers, flights operated increased to 544, with an average cabin load factor of 86%, averaging 117 passengers per flight. Lufthansa will finish the year 2022 with 70.000 passengers carried between Frankfurt and Sarajevo. From April 2023 Lufthansa will increase Frankfurt-Sarajevo flights from 7 to 10 weekly. All flights are scheduled to operate with Airbus 320neo aircraft, offering 164 seats (38 seats more than currently operating Airbus 319). With the increased number of flights, and aircraft with larger seating capacity, we can expect Lufthansa to handle close to 100.000 passengers during this year.

✈Lufthansa to increase Frankfurt-Sarajevo!

Lufthansa launched Frankfurt-Sarajevo flights on May 03, 2021. At the beginning flights operated four times per week (Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday), increasing to daily from June of the same year. Since Lufthansa discontinued Munich-Sarajevo flights, Frankfurt has proven to be very popular, offering possibilities to connect to Lufthansa’s World network out of Lufthansa’s hub at Frankfurt Airport. With the start of summer timetable, beginning of April 2022, Lufthansa is increasing Frankfurt-Sarajevo flights from seven to 10 weekly. 

Lufthansa will have a split schedule to offer more flexibility on its long-haul connecting flights. Out of 10 weekly flights, four will arrive in Sarajevo at 10:30 pm, with the aircraft and crew staying overnight in Sarajevo, departing Sarajevo at 06:50 am the following day. At the beginning of operations Lufthansa operated an Airbus 319 aircraft, offering 126 seats, but due to flight’s popularity Lufthansa is upgrading  Frankfurt-Sarajevo route from April to an Airbus 320neo offering 154 seats.

✈Aerodrom Tuzla-Rekordan broj putnika u decembru

Kroz Međunarodni aerodrom Tuzla tokom mjeseca decembra prošlo je 52.151 putnika, što predstavlja najveći broj opsluženih putnika u ovom zimskom mjesecu odkako je aerodrom počeo sa radom. U poredjenju sa decembrom prošle godine aerodrom bilježi rast putnika od 104% ili 26.665 putnika više. 2022. godinu Aerodrom Tuzla završava sa brojkom od 474.336 putnika, što predstavlja povećanje od 59% ili 175.324 putnika više u odnosu na godinu prije.

Aerodrom Tuzla će ove godine oboriti sve rekorde po broju putnika i otpremljenih aviona, a po završetku dogradnje trećeg odlaznog izlaza, možemo očekivati još jedan bazni avion od strane Wizz Air-a, kao i nove avio linije od strane Ryanair-a. Aerodrom trenutno privodi kraju radove na izgradnji atrija, kao i obnovi i automatizaciji parking prostora. Aerodrom Tuzla planira da opsluži oko 750.000 putnika tokom ove godine.

✈Banja Luka, Sarajevo, Tuzla – Basel statistics

During last year three Bosnian airports were connected with Euro Airport in Basel. Air traffic data is available for January-September of 2022. Tuzla Airport recorded 31.677 passengers, followed by Sarajevo with 20.247 passengers and Banja Luka with 17.737 passengers.

During the month of October Wizz Air operated a total of 18 flights between Sarajevo and London Luton Airport transporting a total of 2.997 passengers. The airline had a cabin load factor of 92,5% or 167 passengers per flight on average. January-October 2022. Wizz Air operated 124 flights between Sarajevo and London Luton Airport, transporting 18.128 passengers, with cabin load factor of 81%.

✈Bosnian airports: Flight diversions due to low visibility

Due to low visibility at Banja Luka and Sarajevo Airports, flights were diverted to Tuzla. Two Ryanair flights were diverted from Banja Luka to Tuzla, one from Milan-Bergamo and the other from Stockholm-Arlanda. Also, two flights from Sarajevo were diverted to Tuzla, Pegasus Airlines flight from Istanbul-Sabiha and the other Wizz Air from Abu Dhabi. With diverted flights Tuzla Airport handled 11 arriving flights, seven regular scheduled departing flights and one unscheduled diverted flight to Istanbul. Passengers for Istanbul flight were transported by bus from Sarajevo to Tuzla to get on Istanbul flight, while passengers for Abu Dhabi flight were transported to Sarajevo also by bus. Wizz Air returning flight to Abu Dhabi is scheduled to leave Tuzla to Sarajevo tomorrow morning, and then continue to Abu Dhabi. During winter months low visibility with fog is causing major flight disruptions on all airports in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Until this year the majority of flights that couldn’t land at Banja Luka airport were diverted to Zagreb, while Tuzla flights were diverted to Belgrade, Sarajevo flights most of the time were sent back to its original starting airport. As of last month, flight diversions are coordinated between airports in  Bosnia and Herzegovina, avoiding major inconvenience for passengers with border crossings when flights were diverted to neighboring countries.

During the month of November, Bosnia and Herzegovina recorded 148.247 passengers going through its international airports. Sarajevo Airport recorded 68.243 passengers  followed by Tuzla with 50.481, Banja Luka 29.523, and Mostar with 0 passengers. When compared to October of 2021, Bosnia and Herzegovina recorded 47% passengers increase. Year to date, the country has recorded 2.056.264 passengers, representing 88% increase when compared to the same time of the last year. This is the first time that Bosnia and Herzegovina recorded over 2 million passengers. The previous record was 1.919.342 achieved in 2019.

✈Sarajevo Airport statistics for November 2022

Last month Sarajevo Airport recorded 68.243 passengers, representing an increase of 10% when compared to the same month of 2021. The January-November period airport handled 1.310.309 passengers, representing an increase of 88% when compared to the same time of the last year. This is the first full month since Wizz Air has closed its Sarajevo base and discontinued all its flights except London and Abu Dhabi. Even though Wizz Air is no longer operating Sarajevo base, the airport managed to increase passenger numbers by 10%, recording 6.254 passengers more than in November of 2021. The increase is coming from airlines operating larger aircraft, mostly Pegasus Airlines switching all its Istanbul-Sarajevo flights from Airbus 320 to Airbus 321, with capacity to seat 239 passengers. Also, majority of its flights to Sarajevo, Turkish Airlines is operating with an Airbus 321 (180 seat capacity). From November 1^st Wizz Air has switched London Luton-Sarajevo flights from Airbus 320 to Airbus321 (239 seats). During this month Sarajevo Airport will welcome TUI Airways new service from London Gatwick. From December 23^rd flydubai will increase its service from Dubai from currently four weekly flights to 10 weekly. During the month of December Sarajevo Airport has 94.000 seats on offer.

✈Bosnia and Herzegovina air traffic report for October 2022

Banja Luka International Airport

During the month of October, Bosnia and Herzegovina recorded 188.675 passengers going through its four international airports. Sarajevo Airport recorded 110.580 passengers  followed by Tuzla with 44.713, Banja Luka 32.671, and Mostar with 711 passengers. When compared to October of 2021, Bosnia and Herzegovina recorded 37% passengers increase. Year to date, the country has recorded 1.908.017 passengers, representing 92% increase when compared to the same time of the last year.

✈Sarajevo Airport: construction photo update

Radovi na proširenju zgrade terminala aerodroma Sarajevo, su u završnoj fazi i trenutno se izvode radovi na izgradnji novih jezgra za avionske mostove. Prvi od tri avionska mosta je dopremljen u Sarajevo tokom ove sedmice, i trenutno se radi na instalaciji istog na novoizgradjenom dijelu terminala.

Ugovor o nabavci tri avio mosta je potpisan u aprilu ove godine sa njemačko-španskom kompanijom THYSSENKRUPP AIRPORT SYSTEMS S.A u vrijednosti od 3,9 miliona maraka. Novi avio mostovi imaju unaprijeđen sistem za pristajanje aviona  (A-VDGS) Visual Docking Guidance Systems. Avio mostovi su stakleni, što će omogućiti prelijep pogled putnicima na platformu i avione tokom ukrcavanja/iskrcavanja iz aviona.
