✈Tuzla Winter 2018-19

Tuzla destination map Winter 2018/19

✈Record August for Sarajevo and Tuzla airports!

Sarajevo Airport recorded its busiest August on record, handling 159.506 passengers, representing an increase of 10,64% (or 15.340 passenger more) compared to the same month last year. During months  of June, July and August airport recorded record number of aircraft operations and travelers using the airport. 411.883 passengers traveled through the airport during those three months. Compared to the June-August period of last year the airport saw increase of 13,66% (or 49.522 passengers more). Year to date airport handled 749.028 passengers, representing an increase of 12,10% (or 80.854 passengers more). Sarajevo Airport is expecting to welcome its millionth passenger during the third week of November.

Tuzla International Airport is breaking all the records this year too. Even though airport’s terminal building is a construction site, the airport managed to record increase of 15,34% in passengers traffic (or 54.307 passengers more). Year to date airport recorded 408.159 passengers.

The reconstruction of the passenger terminal and the construction of an atrium (space to house travel agencies, car rental houses and souvenir shops) has been very slow and should all be completed by April of next year, following several delays due to lack of experience by the construction company to carry out such a large project. Once the project is completed, the airport will see the capacity of the terminal double to 800 passengers per hour, or 700.000 passengers per year.

✈Nine markets where LCC's account for over 50% of seats!

anna.aero has forecast that the LCC market will account for 50% of seats by 2027, this is a target which has already been reached in nine European country markets. The leading nation for low-cost market share in Europe is Macedonia, with LCCs accounting for just under 66% of the market in 2018. What is interesting to note however is that although Macedonia is Europe’s leading low-cost market when it comes to market share, the continent’s leading LCC, Ryanair, is not present in the market. Along with Macedonia, Gibraltar and Iceland (highlighted in light green) are also in the top 20, but are yet to see the Irish LCC’s tailfin grace its airports’ aprons. Bosnia and Herzegovina is taking sixth place in Europe in terms of LCC market share, with 56,2% seats offered by low cost airlines. Next month will mark arrival of Europe's LCC giant Ryanair on Bosnian market. Ryanair will introduce flights from Brussels Charleroi, Memmingen and Stockholm Skavsta to Banja Luka. All three destination will be served twice weekly. With arrival of Ryanair, LCC market share in Bosnia and Herzegovina will go over 60%, placing the country right after Macedonia.
Following LCC operate to/from airports in Bosnia and Herzegovina:
  • Sarajevo : Air Arabia, Eurowings, Flydubai, Norwegian, Pegasus and Wizz air
  • Tuzla : Wizz air (base)
  • Mostar : Eurowings
  • Banja Luka : Ryanair (begins 29.10.2018)
