✈ Banjaluka Airport winter 2025/2026

The 2025/26 winter timetable will begin on Sunday, October 26, 2025, and run through March 28, 2026. During this period, passengers will be able to fly to 8 destinations across 5 countries, operated by 3 airlines. A total of 1.052 commercial flights are scheduled, offering 194.628 seats from November to March. Ryanair will operate the majority of flights to and from Banjaluka, serving five destinations in three countries. The airline has scheduled 684 round-trip flights, providing 129.276 seats.

During the November-March period, Ryanair will hold a 66% share of flights at Banjaluka Airport, followed by Wizz Air with 30%, and Air Serbia with just 3%. With Wizz Air establishing a base at Tuzla Airport and Ryanair expanding its operations in Sarajevo, Banjaluka Airport faces increasing competition for new routes and retaining its current ones.

To stay competitive, Banjaluka Airport management should focus on developing new markets not already served from Tuzla or Sarajevo. Many of these routes could work as summer seasonal, including:

✈ Mostar Airport winter 2025/2026

During the 2025/2026 winter schedule, Mostar International Airport will be connected to only two destinations. Air Serbia will operate two weekly flights from Belgrade, while Croatia Airlines will maintain three weekly flights from Zagreb. Eurowings will offer a limited service of six round trips from Stuttgart during the Christmas and New Year holidays.

Compared to the previous season, Air Serbia has reduced its Belgrade service from three to two weekly flights, whereas Croatia Airlines has retained the same frequency as in the summer. Throughout the winter timetable, Mostar Airport is scheduled to handle a total of 232 commercial flights, offering 21,472 seats.

Given the minimal airline presence and typically low passenger loads during the winter months, the airport’s operation during this period raises questions about its economic viability.

✈ Belgrade – Sarajevo air traffic statistics data for 2024

Last year, a total of 42.467 passengers traveled between Belgrade and Sarajevo. Air Serbia was the sole airline operating on this route, offering one daily flight with an ATR72 aircraft, although at times, an Airbus A319 was also used. In total, Air Serbia operated 742 flights (round trip), with an average cabin load factor of 66%, which equates to about 57 passengers per flight.

Although Air Serbia has previously announced plans for a second daily flight to Sarajevo, the airline has yet to seize the opportunity to connect passengers from Bosnia and Herzegovina to its long-haul network. A second daily flight, with a late arrival and an early departure from Sarajevo, is essential for Air Serbia to link passengers to its extensive range of routes from Belgrade.

Historically, airlines flying to Sarajevo started with just one daily flight, but many, including Austrian Airlines, Croatia Airlines, Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines, have since expanded to two or even three daily flights. Air Serbia, however, appears to be lacking a clear strategy when it comes to route development. Its current offering of a single daily flight with a small ATR72 to Sarajevo, or even worse, only two weekly flights to Banjaluka, puts it at a disadvantage.

Since, Air Serbia has ideal aircraft ATR72, for short routes, the airline must increase its service to at least two daily flights to Sarajevo (3 daily during summer months) and introduce a daily flight Belgrade-Banjaluka.

✈ Mostar Airport Summer Timetable 2025

Mostar International Airport is gearing up for a record-breaking summer season, with expectations to surpass 100,000 passengers. To support this growth, the airport has signed a new agreement with Italian airline Sky Alps to establish a base and launch additional routes. From May 15 to October 12, Sky Alps will station a Dash 8-400 aircraft in Mostar, offering flights to destinations including Bari, Bergamo, Munich, Naples, Palermo, Rome, and seasonal charter services to Corfu, Greece. The county government will provide subsidies for all scheduled flights (excluding the Corfu charters).

Eurowings will also introduce seasonal summer flights from Düsseldorf and Stuttgart, initially operating once a week at the start and end of the season. During peak summer months, flights will increase to twice weekly. These services will also benefit from government subsidies.

For the first time, Mostar Airport will be connected to Istanbul with scheduled flights. Turkish low-cost carrier Ajet will offer a weekly service from Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport to Mostar, utilizing a Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

Meanwhile, Air Serbia and Croatia Airlines will maintain their three weekly flights each to Belgrade and Zagreb.

✈Mostar International Airport Summer Timetable 2024

In the upcoming summer timetable, Mostar International Airport will see the arrival of two new airlines Air Serbia and Sky Alps, introducing five new routes. Both airlines have been awarded subsidies to start flights from Mostar. Sky Alps will connect Mostar with Rome, Verona, Bari, and Munich. All four routes will be operated twice weekly onboard 76 seats Bombardier DHC-8-400 aircraft.  From April 15, 2024. Air Serbia will connect Belgrade and Mostar,  Greek Airline Marathon Airlines will fly the route on behalf of Air Serbia with Embraer E175 aircraft. Flights will operate three times per week on Mondays, Fridays, and Sundays.

During summer timetable Mostar Airport will be connected to five destinations in four countries. Three airlines will operate a total of 726 round-trip flights, offering 57.168 seats.

• Air Serbia will operate 166 round-trip flights to/from Belgrade, offering 14.608 seats
• Croatia Airlines will operate 180 round-trip flights to/from Zagreb, offering 13.680
• Sky Alps will operate 380 round-trip flights to/from four destinations, offering 28.880 seats

✈Banja Luka International Airport Summer Timetable 2024

During Summer Timetable 2024 Banja Luka International Airport will see a significant drop in flights and seats offered when compared to the year before. For the same months of last year Banja Luka Airport had 535.350 seats on offer, while this year is 300.528 seats, representing a decrease of 44%. The number of flights last year stood at 2.886, while this year is 1,734, representing a decrease of 40%. Discontinued destinations this summer are: Tivat (Air Montenegro), Bergamo (Ryanair), Berlin (Ryanair), Nuremberg (Ryanair), Hamburg (Wizz Air), Malmo (Wizz Air). One new destination in Germany is being introduced, Karlsruhe Baden-Baden, will be operated by Ryanair twice weekly.

Banja Luka Airport - Route Map Summer 2024

Germany is market with the most flights and seats on offer, representing almost half of the airport business, followed by Sweden and Austria. Banja Luka Airport management needs to work with local government to offer subsidies to any LLC to offer low-cost flights to Malmo, Copenhagen, Berlin, Hamburg, Eindhoven, Istanbul and Athens. Air Serbia should either increase its service to Belgrade to daily to enable connections to its network or discontinue its service altogether.  After so many years of operations to Banja Luka two weekly flights are laughable. In order for Banja Luka to be sustainable as a LLC airport, number of passengers should be around 800.000 to cover basic needs of airport operations. Next to Germany, Türkiye should be on airports radar with flights to Istanbul, preferably Turkish Airlines with 5 weekly flights during summer and 3 weekly during winter months. Pegasus Airlines could work as well, since they offer many connections via their hub at Istanbul’s Sabiha Gokcen Airport. SunExpress would be ideal with two weekly flights to Antalya. With airport struggling financially, the management of the airport should be proactive on finding solutions, before government decides to sell it to cover holes in 2024 budget.

✈Air Serbia to start Belgrade-Mostar flights

From April 15, 2024. Air Serbia will connect Belgrade and Mostar. Greek Airline Marathon Airlines will fly the route on behalf of Air Serbia with Embraer E175 aircraft offering 88 seats. Flights are scheduled to operate on Mondays, Fridays, and Sundays.

✈ Banja Luka International Airport – 2021 Summer Timetable

Banja Luka International Airport is set to have its busiest summer, with record number of flights and destinations offered from the city. Two weeks ago, big news came from Wizz Air, announcing five new routes from Banja Luka to: Basel, Dortmund, Eindhoven, Malmo and Stockholm. Each of Wizz Air destinations from Banja Luka will be served with two weekly flights. Ryanair will introduce two new routes from Banja Luka to Milan-Bergamo and Vienna, bringing Ryanair network from the city to seven. Air Serbia will operate scheduled flights to Belgrade (2x weekly). Freebird Airlines will operate charter flights to Antalya, the flights are pre-booked by Kontiki travel agency. Total of 17 round-trip flights are scheduled, offering 6.120 seats in both directions.

➤With the beginning of Winter timetable on Sunday October 25, Banja Luka Airport will see major flight reductions when compared to the same time of the last year. Air Serbia will operate two weekly flights from Belgrade while Ryanair will scale back its operations to Banja Luka from last year’s 5 destinations to only one this coming winter season. 

➤Single destination Ryanair plans to operate to Banja Luka during upcoming winter timetable is new two weekly service from Gothenburg, beginning October 25.2020. 

➤Ryanair will delay the launch of new flights from Vienna to Banja Luka until March 29, while its planned new route from Milan-Bergamo has been cancelled altogether.

➤Ryanair is pushing back the resumption of most of its flights to Banja Luka until spring of 2021.

➤Following routes are suspended until Summer timetable 2021. (changes to the schedules are likely possible due to uncertainty with coronavirus pandemic and borders opening and closing on short notice).

✈Sarajevo Airport Winter 2020-21

The 2020/21 winter timetable enters into force on Sunday, October 25^th. 2020. until March 27^th of 2021. This winter season will be like no other due to ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Majority of the world airlines are in survival mode operating at 20-30% capacity. 

Sarajevo Airport has been hit extremely hard with flight cancelations and airlines temporary withdrawal from the airport due to border closures and ever-changing entry rules. Passengers traffic is expected to plummet even deeper during upcoming winter months. Last winter season passengers were able to fly to 14 destinations in 11 countries in Europe and Gulf region with 81 weekly departures.

This winter season Sarajevo Airport will be served by: Air Serbia (Belgrade), Austrian Airlines (Vienna), Croatia Airlines (Zagreb), Eurowings (Cologne and Stuttgart), Flydubai (Dubai), Lufthansa (Munich), Pegasus Airlines (Istanbul) and Turkish Airlines (Istanbul). 10 destinations in 7 countries will be served with 44 weekly departures. Two largest markets out of Sarajevo are Turkey and Germany and will be served with following frequencies: Turkey will be served with 11 weekly flights: Turkish Airlines (5 flights) and Pegasus Airlines (6 flights), Germany will be served with 9 weekly flights: Lufthansa (4 flights) and Eurowings (5 flights). Due to entry regulations and decreased demand for air travel changes in schedules are highly likely (Schedule as of October 11, 2020). 

During Winter timetable 2020/21 number of available seats is 217.664, representing a decrease of -52,24% or -238.144 seats less, compared to the same time of the last year.
