During the period January–December 2025, Bosnia and Herzegovina recorded 1.963.443 tourist arrivals, representing a 0,3% increase when compared to the year 2024. Domestic tourist arrivals increased by 0,2%, while foreign tourist arrivals grew by 0,4% year-on-year.
Tourists generated a total of 4.083.977 overnight stays in 2025, marking a 1,0% increase when compared to the previous year. Domestic tourists recorded a 1,4% rise in overnight stays, while foreign tourists achieved 0,9% growth.
Foreign visitors continued to dominate Bosnia and Herzegovina’s tourism sector, accounting for 70,3% of all overnight stays, while domestic tourists represented 29,7%.
Among international source markets, tourists from Croatia generated the largest share of foreign overnight stays with 14,1%, followed by Serbia with 10,9% and Türkiye with 9,7%. Visitors from Slovenia accounted for 5,9%, while Saudi Arabia represented 5,6% of foreign overnight stays.
Other notable tourism markets included Germany with 4,4%, China with 3,8%, the United States with 3,4%, and Italy with 3,1% of total foreign overnight stays. Combined, these key markets generated 60,9% of all foreign overnight stays, while tourists from other countries accounted for the remaining 39.1%.
Wider Economic Impact
Tourism typically generates additional indirect economic activity through suppliers, retail, construction, agriculture, aviation, and hospitality services. Applying a conservative tourism multiplier the broader economic contribution can be estimated at 1.62 billion BAM

The 2025 tourism sector likely contributed approximately BAM 1.6 billion to the economy of Bosnia and Herzegovina, confirming tourism as one of the country’s most important service industries and a major source of foreign currency inflows, employment, and regional development.
