✈Tuzla Airport anticipate to handle 800.000 passengers

Tuzla International Airport is positioning itself for a record-breaking year in both flight operations and passenger numbers. The establishment of a Wizz Air base at the airport, featuring two Airbus A321neo aircraft configured with high-density seating (239 seats), puts Tuzla on track to surpass all previous performance records. For 2026, Tuzla Airport has 1.030.752 seats on offer, and my analysis projects approximately 800,000 passengers by year-end.

Wizz Air has published its 2026 operating schedule, comprising a total of 4.056 flights and offering 969.384 seats. The airline will operate 14 routes from Tuzla, of which two, Gothenburg (GOT) in Sweden and Larnaca (LCA) in Cyprus, will be seasonal summer services. In addition to Wizz Air, Tuzla International Airport will continue to benefit from year-round connectivity to Istanbul (SAW) through services operated by A Jet and Pegasus Airlines.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Further strengthening the airport’s network, Chair Airlines will introduce seasonal flights between Zurich and Tuzla, operating from June through October, with the possibility of extending services into the winter season subject to market demand. Charter operations will also play a significant role, with Air Cairo and Nile Air providing regular charter services to Hurghada (HRG) in Egypt, while Corendon Airlines and Free Bird Airlines will operate charter flights to Antalya (AYT) in Turkiye.

With an expanding portfolio of scheduled and charter services, Tuzla International Airport is reinforcing its role as a key regional low-cost airport, serving passengers from across Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as parts of neighboring Croatia and Serbia.

✈ Tuzla Airport Summer Timetable 2025

After months of stagnation, Tuzla Airport is set to welcome new route by Wizz Air.  Starting June 15, Wizz Air will introduce flights between Vienna and Tuzla four times a week. Additionally, the airline is increasing its frequency on the Dortmund and Memmingen routes, with both now being operated daily from June 1. This summer, Tuzla Airport will also see new carriers, including A Jet and Pegasus Airlines, both offering one weekly flight from Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport. Corendon Airlines will replace last year’s Tailwind Airlines, operating charter flights to Antalya.

In comparison to the same period last year, Tuzla Airport will see a significant increase in both the number of flights and seats available. The number of seats offered will rise from 101,880 last year to 246,460 this year, reflecting a remarkable increase of 141.9%, or 144,580 additional seats. The number of flights will rise from 566 last year to 1.316 this year representing an increase of 132,50%, or 750 additional flights.

The Prime Minister of Tuzla Canton Irfan Halilagić has announced that Wizz Air will introduce two new routes by the end of summer—Cologne and Gothenburg. Additionally, Wizz Air will establish a base at Tuzla Airport by the end of summer season, with one aircraft stationed at Tuzla Airport. This new base will allow Wizz Air to operate flights to Cologne, Gothenburg, and Vienna directly from Tuzla, while routes to Basel, Dortmund, and Memmingen will be serviced by aircraft from other Wizz Air bases.

✈Tuzla Airport - 2020 Summer flight schedule

Tuzla International Airport will not see any major changes in upcoming Summer Timetable of flights, when compared to the last summer season. 16 destinations in seven countries will be served during summer timetable.  Only destination with significant flight increases is  Antalya (Antalya airport will see charter flights go up by 106%). Bosnian travel agency based in Tuzla “Golden Tours” is selling vacation packages to Antalya region in Turkey. Total of 31 round trip flights are on offer between Tuzla and Antalya, compared to just 15 last year. A total of 5.580 seats are on offer from June 06, to September 22. Turkish charter airline Freebird Airlines will operate the flights using Airbus 320 aircraft with cabin configuration to seat 180 passengers in all economy class.

Wizz Air will bring back its three routes that were suspended at the beginning of winter timetable in November. Three seasonal routes being reintroduced are: Billund, Stockholm-Skavsta and Växjö. Tuzla Airport is expecting to renew partnership contract with Wizz air for new term of four years. The contract is due to expire in June of this year.
In a new four-year contract between Wizz Air and Tuzla Airport, both sides have to fulfill following:
  • Wizz Air stays the sole airline operator at the airport.
  • ILS approach lights must be extended from current 720 meters to 920 meters to meet ILS-1 approach guidelines
  • Tuzla Airport will continue with terminal building upgrades, priority being installation of a baggage carousel
  • Wizz Air will station one more Airbus 320 at the airport during 2021
  • Wizz Air will open new routes from Tuzla (possible new routes are Abu Dhabi International Airport*, Paris-Beauvais Airport, Milan-Bergamo and reintroduction of London-Luton)

Abu Dhabi International Airport* - Wizz Air Abu Dhabi has taken a step towards launch, with a date now being revealed for the launch of the new airline. If all goes to plan, we should see the new Middle East carrier begin service in third quarter of 2020. Bosnia and Herzegovina is being mentioned as one of the destinations out of Abu Dhabi by Wizz Air. The airline is considering flights to either Tuzla or Sarajevo from its new hub at Abu Dhabi International Airport.

✈Tuzla Airport 550.000 passengers projected for 2017.

Analysis of Wizz Air schedule for Tuzla International Airport for the year 2017 is projecting over 550.000 passengers to use the airport. The numbers are including only scheduled flights by Wizz Air. From June 14 to August 30, airport will handle charter flights to Antalya too. Total of 24 flights are scheduled, with around 5.000 tourist expected to use these flights. With projected 550.000 passengers and future growth, Tuzla airport needs major investments in airport infrastructure and connecting roads to the airport. To be able to accommodate future growth airport needs to develop master plan for future expansion and concentrate on attracting more airlines (both passenger and cargo).
