✈Possible Wizz Air flights from Sarajevo and Mostar!

There is great interest in the establishment of flights between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Hungary, which would lead to a significant cooperation in the field of tourism and better economic cooperation between the two countries. Hungarian government offered  subsidies for Budapest-Sarajevo-Budapest flights,  expressing their willingness to support the sustainability of the line.

“After Tuzla, which remains our headquarters in Bosnia and Herzegovina, we intend to establish flights from Sarajevo, which is a very important destination for us. After that, we are also interested in investing in the Sarajevo Airport,” explained the Director of Wizz Air, József Ujhelyi, at a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications of Bosnia and Herzegovina Mr. Saša Dalipagić that was held yesterday in Sarajevo.

In addition to airports in Tuzla and Sarajevo,  Wizz Air intends to increase its presence on the Bosnian market in the future, which would mean their expansion to  Mostar International Airport as well.

Possible Wizz Air routes from Sarajevo are: Budapest, Copenhagen, Stockholm and destinations in Germany.

✈Tuzla Airport:more than 300.000 passengers expected in 2016!

The Government of  Tuzla County (Tuzla Kanton) adopted Operating Plan for  Tuzla International Airport for 2016, which includes increase in the number of passengers by 18 percent and significant investments in infrastructure. For the first two months of this year Tuzla Airport has handled 39.174 passengers, an increase of 56,60%.
Apart from activities that are to be implemented regarding the increase in the volume of passenger traffic through the expansion of destinations in European countries, preparations for the launch of cargo traffic will also be intensified.
“The cargo traffic that has been planned earlier, should be realized in 2016 following the resolution of administrative issues. We intend to handle 74 cargo flights regarding the export of goods of animal origin, which will enable a significantly faster development of agriculture at the territory of the Tuzla County and the entire region. Negotiations with representatives of airlines from Turkey are in the final stage and should be completed with the signing of contracts very soon,” said Rifet Karasalihović, director of  Tuzla International Airport.
In comparison with 2015 when 259.074 passengers have been transported, the airport expects around 307.000 passengers or 18 percent increase in passengers using the airport  in 2016.
Karasalihović expects the greatest progress in case of investments in infrastructure. Planned works include:
1) Approach Light System (ALS) that will enable aircraft to  safely land and take off under the conditions of reduced visibility.
2) Implementation of the project of reconstruction of the access road to the airport, which is currently  in terrible condition.
