✈FlyBosnia begins test flights

FlyBosnia started to perform test flights from its home base at Sarajevo Airport. First two days of testing’s jet did touch and go and circling around Sarajevo. After that, the airline operated flights from Sarajevo to Tuzla and back and from Sarajevo to Banja Luka and back. The airline is still awaiting regulatory approval from Bosnia and Herzegovina Directorate of Civil Aviation for Air Operators Certificate to commence revenue flights. The AOC is expected to be issued by the end of February.

✈Mostar Airport is offering incentives to attract carriers to launch flights in 2019!

- The relevant incentives are transparent and accessible to all aviation companies that operate or plan to operate from Mostar Airport and meet certain conditions.

- Mostar Airport is offering several incentives in the form of discounts to encourage airlines and tour operators to develop their services in international traffic at the airport, as well as to stimulate greater choice and greater benefits for all airline companies for transport of passengers and cargo.

- Proposed incentives keep track that such rebates do not distort competition between airline companies at the airport and are offered for a limited period on a nondiscriminatory basis.

- An airline company applying for the use of an incentive program model must apply for inclusion in the Mostar Airports incentive program for each airline at least 15 days before the date of establishment of the relevant airline / frequency.

-If an airline does not meet the terms of the payment of the account or fails to comply with the terms and conditions of the incentive program, Mostar Airport reserves the right to deprive the airline of any incentive.

- When an airline agrees to be included in the Incentive Program, the airline cannot transfer the acquired rights resulting from the Incentive Program to a third party without written consent and approval from Mostar Airport.

- The Company reserves the right not to apply any of the approved incentives in the event of bankruptcy, mergers or sales of the aviation company concerned, as well as in the case of its takeover by another company, which results in a reduction in total seat capacity compared to the previous IATA planning period. In such a case, the Company is not required by the airline concerned, its bankruptcy administrator, agent o agent to compensate for any loss or damage nor to grant any claim for refusal or rejections as compensation for the payment of fees.

- The amount of incentives is expressed as a percentage of the landing fee, which the Company charges according to the valid tariff regulations for actual flights.

✈Due to planned expansion in Bosnia, Wizz Air is hiring crew in Tuzla !

✈BHANSA has been certified with Air Traffic Controller Training Organization Certificate by BHDCA

Bosnia and Herzegovina Air Navigation Services Agency (BHANSA), since December 19, 2018, has been certified with Air Traffic Controller Training Organization Certificate by the Bosnia and Herzegovina Directorate of Civil Aviation (BHDCA).

The procedure officially started on April 17, 2017, by submitting a certification application. It was conducted in accordance with the Rulebook on Air Traffic Controller Licenses, Training Organizations and Aviation Medical Centers requirements. During the certification process, BHANSA harmonized its internal procedures and processes with the above-mentioned Rulebook and thus ranked among air navigation services agencies in Europe, that fully apply EU regulations in this field.

The certification activities were conducted by a special team formed by the BHANSA CEO's, Mr. Davorin Primorac's, decision. Other BHANSA employees gave their contribution as well. ✈Record year for Sarajevo Airport

Sarajevo Airport welcomed 1.046.635 passengers in 2018, a 9,2% increase over 2017 numbers. This is the first time that one million passengers have been served in one single year. In 2018 airport added 88.664 passengers. With growing interest in tourist arrivals, the airport can expect to grow at 7-9% rate in the next couple of years. This year airport will see arrival of Aegean Airlines with flights to Athens, Tunis Air charter flights to Monastir and Tunis Air Express to Tunis. Turkish Airlines will increase its service from Istanbul to three daily, while Air Arabia will increase its flights from Sharjah to double daily. Turkish Airlines will increase its charter flights to Antalya from last year’s four weekly to eight weekly this year. Sarajevo Airport based airline FlyBosnia is scheduled to start operations in the first quarter of this year, with flights to Riyadh, Kuwait City and Bahrain. The airline will add around 100.000 passengers per year to Sarajevo Airport.

✈ Eurowings to resum Mostar flights!

Mostar Airport has reached agreement with Eurowings to restart seasonal flights from Mostar to Duesseldorf and Stuttgart in summer of 2019. Flights from Duesseldorf will restart on May 5^th with one weekly service, while flights from Stuttgart will start one month later on June 5^th with two weekly flights. Flights are scheduled to operate with Airbus 319 aircraft.

✈Bosnia and Herzegovina air transport statistics for November

In November Sarajevo airport recorded 62.253 passengers, representing an increase of 7% compared to the same month of the last year. In period January-November airport recorded 993.218 passengers, a new record for the airport.On December 5th 2018 Sarajevo Airport welcomed its 1.000.000 passenger, a new record in airports 49 years history. 

Tuzla Airport has seen its passenger numbers decline by 18% due to Wizz Air converting four routes to summer seasonal and frequency cuts on existing routes. Winter cuts are coming as a result of airport's management not being able to meet basic infrastructure conditions for airport to run safe operations during winter months when visibility is low. Installation of new approach lightning system has been delayed for second winter in a row due to incompetent  management of the airport to complete the task, even though all funds are provided and financed by the Government of Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. 
Another major issue contributing to Wizz air flight cuts from Tuzla is terminal building reconstruction, with finishing date  being delayed numerous times. Terminal building was scheduled to be finished before April of this year but unfortunately work is still going on without the set date for terminal completion. Yet again airport management is to blame for choosing construction company without any references and previous experience in airport terminal construction.

Banja Luka Airport recorded its busiest month ever since opening its doors in 1976. The airport recorded 8.272 passengers, an increase of 730% compared to November of the last year. Record numbers increases are result of Ryanair starting flights to the city from Brussels-Charleroi, Memmingen and Stockholm-Skavsta. Banja Luka airport is expecting to finish this year with 35.000 passengers. 

Mostar Airport has seen passenger numbers increase in November by 50%, but year to date airport has seen major decrease in passengers handled, due to Mistral Air discontinuing all charter flights from Italy to Mostar. Year to date airport handled 27.982 passengers, representing a decrease of 35% compared to the same time of last year when airport recorded 42.723 passengers. 

Croatia Airlines is the only airline operating flights to Mostar, with two weekly flights from Zagreb. During November Croatia Airlines transported  279 passengers on 14 flights. Flights were operated with Dash 8-400 aircraft with capacity to seat 76 passengers. Croatia Airlines managed to sell only 279 seats out of 1064 available, with average cabin load factor of only 26%. These flights are heavily subsidized by the Government of Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Neretva County, but with such poor interest and very low load factor the future of these flights is very uncertain. 

During January-September all four international airports in Bosnia and Herzegovina recorded 1.594.208 passengers, representing an increase of 9% compared to the same period of last year. Bosnia and Herzegovina is expecting to finish this year with 1,7 million air passengers. In last four years number of air passengers in Bosnia and Herzegovina has almost doubled, from 956.870 passengers in 2014 to over 1,7 million this year. The trend is expected to continue in following years with 8-10% increase on average, with new low cost carrier routes from Banja Luka, launch of FlyBosnia flights from Sarajevo and possible Wizz Air expansion in Tuzla and Mostar.

✈Turkish Airlines S19 charter flights Sarajevo-Antalya

Travel agencies from Bosnia and Herzegovina have started selling tourist packages for Turkish Riviera for summer of 2019. Turkish Airlines will operate largest number of the charter flights, a total of 89 round-trip flights are scheduled, representing an increase of 59% compared to the summer of the last year. Turkish Airlines will operate six flights per week from May 31. to September 21, with Boeing 737-800 aircraft, offering a total of 29.370 seats in both directions. ✈Sarajevo International Airport welcomes millionth passenger!

Sarajevo International Airport handled its millionth passenger today, Aida Birno who was flying to Istanbul with Turkish Airlines, is the first millionth traveler in a single calendar year for the airport. The one millionth passenger was awarded with Gift Certificates for the Airport’s Duty Free Shop and Turkish Airlines round trip ticket  from Sarajevo to Istanbul.

This figure represents a growth of 9 percent over the same period of last year, and growth of 25 percent compared to 2016. With more than 1.000.000 passengers per year, 13.000 flight operations and handling more than two million kilograms of cargo goods, Sarajevo International Airport is the busiest airport in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Sarajevo International Airport Director Armin Kajmakovic, who presented a gift to a happy passenger, noted that this was very important event in the history of the airport.

"My sincere congratulations to our millionth passenger and to our most important strategic airline partner Turkish Airlines, who transports the largest number of passengers from the airport with 20% passenger share, "Kajmakovic said.

✈Ryanair to start Berlin - Banja Luka flights!

Ryanair opened reservations for its fourth route from Banja Luka,  Berlin Schönefeld Airport, will be served with two weekly flights starting April 03. 2019. Flights are already on sale at Ryanair.com
