Greek airline Lumiwings has canceled all Tuzla operationas
and withdrawn its only aircraft from Tuzla. In a very unprofessional move,
neither Lumiwings nor Tuzla Airport have issud official statement. According to Bosnian media Lumiwings has left
Tuzla with unpaid dues for fuel and
aircraft handling. The air carrier is suspending flights to Stockholm,
Esbjerg, Halmstad, Maastricht and Saarbrucken.
In December, Lumiwings received a sum of 2,5 million Bosnian Marks
(1,3) million Euros) subsidy from the government of Tuzla canton to launch the
flights, but the funds have already been used to compensate for losses for flying empty flights. Unqualified people running
the airport who are appointed by the ruling party are definitely to blame for
yet another fiasco. Will there be any consequences for mismanagement of wasting
public funds is to be seen.
