Last week work on the demolition of the old Terminal A were started. Terminal A was used for commercial
traffic from 1969 to 1992. After construction of current Terminal B, the old
terminal building was used as an office space for airport staff and a
restaurant for airport stuff and visitors.
Prior to the
demolition, there were numerous preparatory works for a period of several months.
This includes the installation and equipment of two temporary buildings to accommodate
the needs of the staff working on the demolition of old terminal and future airport expansion.
As part of
preparation for airport terminal expansion, there was also a relocation of
about 120 employees from Terminal A. This consists of the airport’s operational
center, catering, and other services to various locations.
The work
involves the preparation of construction sites, demolition of buildings, land
reclamation, and dismantling of buildings. The estimated value of the work is
160.000 Bosnian marks. Dismantling works should be completed by the end of this
year and the expansion of current terminal B is scheduled to be completed by June of 2019.
