Wizzair A320 at Sarajevo Airport
Sarajevo International Airport
has posted statistic data for March, reflecting large decreases in all areas of
operations due to global coronavirus pandemic. Sarajevo Airport was opened for regular
passenger flights until March 30th, even though majority of airlines
stopped all commercial flights at the beginning of March.During month of March a total of 28.249 passengers traveled trough Sarajevo Airport, representing a decrease of 58% or 39.644 passengers less when compared to the same month of the last year. Number of operated flights decreased by 47% or 479 flights less. Due to air transport of medical equipment cargo recorded decrease of 13%, which is much smaller when compared to the passengers and commercial flights operated.
Wizzair was the last
airline to suspend Sarajevo flights as a result of the Bosnian government
decision to temporarily close all airports in the country for all commercial
passenger flights. Wizzair suspended its Budapest-Sarajevo route on March 30th,
the suspension should last until April 15, 2020. Wizz Air also suspended all of
its flights from and to Tuzla from March 17 until April 30, 2020.
