The fifth pillar of Islam is to make a pilgrimage (Hajj) to
Mecca, in Saudi Arabia, at least once in one's lifetime. This pillar is
obligatory for every Muslim, male or female, provided that he/she is physically
and financially able to do so. This year a total of 10 flights will depart from
Sarajevo International Airport carrying 1.800 pilgrims to Saudi Arabia. The
number of pilgrims this year has increased by 400 people, last year eight
round-trip flights were operated with 1.400 pilgrims on board. All
flights will be operated by Turkish charter airline Free Bird Airlines using Airbus 320
aircraft.
