✈ Sarajevo Airport apron reconstruction

Works on reconstruction of a part of the aircraft parking platform are in progress at Sarajevo International Airport.  As the construction is executed around-the-clock, Sarajevo airport staff have been taking several organizational and technical measures to prevent the construction from affecting security and regularity of air traffic. The reconstruction is expected to be finished by the end of next month.  The value of the investment is worth approximately 800.000 Bosnian Marks, and it includes the reconstruction of some 3500 m2 of the existing parking platform that will be covered with new layers and a finishing 30 cm thick concrete slab, all in accordance with the international ICAO standards.

The purpose of reconstruction is due to problems caused by tracks left from aircraft wheels on parking positions, which required replacement of asphalt on these parts repeatedly. The general intent of the reconstruction is to adjust the platform by stages throughout several years, which will enable a period of exploitation of a minimum of 20 years. The first stage of reconstruction, which included approximately 1600 m2, was successfully finished in 2014.
