As of the year 2010, Istanbul with its two airports is the most
popular destination from Sarajevo International Airport. Istanbul Ataturk
Airport (IST) is served by Turkish Airlines with 10 weekly flights during
winter timetable and 18 weekly flights during summer timetable. In the past BH
Airlines operated daily flights to Istanbul Ataturk Airport and this route was
most profitable for the airline. Turkish Airlines operated flights from Istanbul
Sabiha Gökçen International Airport (SAW) in 2014 from May to October. Flights
from this airport were discontinued just after one summer season due to low
demand for the flights and mostly due to the fact that Pegasus Airlines offered
better pricing and more connections from Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International
Airport (SAW). Pegasus Airlines started flights to Sarajevo on February 28.
2013. with five weekly flight, gradually increasing flights to daily in winter
season and to 9 weekly in summer season. Statistic data for 2016 will be available
in second half of this year. Number of passengers in 2016 between Sarajevo and
two Istanbul airports is approximately around 320.000 passengers.
