✈Lufthansa, Frankfurt-Sarajevo statistics for 2023

During the last year Frankfurt Airport has positions itself as one of the most important destination out of Sarajevo, especially for transfers to the USA and Canada. Turkish Airlines and Istanbul Airport still holds number one position for number of passengers and transfers out of Sarajevo. Lufthansa launched Frankfurt-Sarajevo flights on May 03, 2021. with five weekly flights, increasing to seven weekly shortly after that. In April of 2022 Lufthansa increased flights to 10 weekly, with three weekly flights with overnight stay in Sarajevo, with early morning departures, offering great connections to  Lufthansa’s worldwide network.

Last year Lufthansa operated a total of 781 flights between Frankfurt and Sarajevo transporting 105.451 passengers, representing an increase of 54%

During this year majority of Lufthansa flights from Frankfurt to Sarajevo are operated with Airbus 320neo and Airbus 321 aircraft, representing significant increase in seats offered. With this increase this years number of passengers will rise to  around 135.000. From summer season of 2025 Lufthansa will most likely increase Frankfurt-Sarajevo flights to twice daily.

✈ Air Arabia is increasing Sharjah-Sarajevo flights

Air Arabia is increasing Sharjah-Sarajevo flights from daily to 10 weekly, the airline is adding second daily flight on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays, flights are scheduled to operate from June 10th to September 8th. Air Arabia will operate a total of 266 flights offering 44.688 seats. During the peak of summer season Sarajevo Airport will be served with 35 weekly flights from three airports in United Arab Emirates.

  • Flydubai will offer 21 weekly flights between Dubai (DXB) and Sarajevo
  • Air Arabia will offer 10 weekly flights between Sharjah (SHJ) and Sarajevo
  • Wizz Air will offer 4 weekly flights between Abu Dhabi (AUH) and Sarajevo

During April-October period Sarajevo Airport will be served from United Arab Emirates with a total of 1.062 flights, offering 198.792 seats, making it second most served country from Sarajevo, right after Türkiye.

✈Bosnia and Herzegovina air traffic report for March 2024

During the month of March, Bosnia and Herzegovina recorded 119.862 passengers going through its four international airports. Sarajevo Airport recorded 82.926 passengers  followed by Banja Luka with 21.270, Tuzla 14.737, and Mostar with 929 passengers. When compared to March of 2023, Bosnia and Herzegovina recorded 25% passengers decrease. Year to date, the country has recorded 349.415 passengers representing a 21% decrease when compared to the same time of the last year.
